Introducing Meeee!

Hey hey heyπŸ‘‹,
I'll simply start by introducing myself. I am Ronniqua Canty, a current Junior at the Florida State University majoring in Psychology with a minor in Education, from Miami, Fl. I initially came in as a Nursing major, buttttt....
Anyway, my journey here at FSU has been all about learning about who I am and what I am truly passionate about. My freshmen year, I participated in the Florida State University's Black Student Union pageant, and ever since, I have been doing amazing things here within my community. I have joined many executive boards and have even started to help create a new organization here that is geared toward Education.
I grew up in a lower SES community, so the schools in my community were not loaded with technology. I remember having a few desktops in the classrooms and library and an overhead projector-- you know, the basics. Sooo, because of the limited supply I was not very tech savvy. It wasn't until the half way through middle school where I started becoming more acquainted with technology in and out of the classroom. And now, I can say that I am "pretty techy" lol.
Seeing how much technology has impacted the society within my 21 years of life, I can tell that it will continue to grow and affect the field of education. In aspirations of becoming an Elementary Educator, I know that technology will be greatly used in the classroom, so I hope that I learn how to become comfortable with using the new technologies being introduced today. I believe that it is very important to learn how to make use of these materials if they are going to be in the classroom setting. And so far, with three days of this course under my belt, I am starting to see how the use of technology is not only beneficial to the student but to the educators as well, and I am excited to learn  more!πŸ˜„

  1. I'm looking forward to our time together in class this semester! I think psychology is really interesting, and while I'm not really pursuing it, I do love reading books and articles on topics like personalities and the subconscious.

    1. Same, and yes Psychology is very broad! I love it because I have so many options, but hate that it doesn't force me to focus on one thing/ subject (career wise) lol.
