When I think of Microsoft Word, I think
papers, papers, PAPERS😫
In school, I have mainly used word for essays and research papers. I've tried to play around with the software and experiment, but never got too far. Many of the times that I’ve seen my teachers or professors use word it was to create exams. My teachers have also used word to create class labels and create tables that help with classroom organization and management. I'm sure that there's much more to do with Microsoft Word, but until I broaden my Microsoft horizons, papers it will be!
Up until like last week I wasn’t aware of my direct use of information in regard to copyright and fair use. I knew what copyright was, but I never looked into it, I always just used pictures from the internet in my PowerPoints and presentations without permission—so basically, I’m a criminal, yikes lol. But the law can’t hold me backbecause now that I am educated on guidelines like Fair Use, as an educator I know what I can and cannot do. In my classroom, when it comes to lessons and worksheets, if I do use information from someone else i will pay my respects and give them their credit. Also, I want to be a more authentic educater and use different concepts that i come up with my own. And it’s no problem using inspiration from other educators, but that’s what we should solely be doing— using them as inspo. As far as my students, I believe that educating them on Copyright and what they can and can’t do when it comes to using others’ work as a part of theirs, maybe during a lesson on plagiarism, will begin to eliminate the issues that surround Copyright and the proper use of the Fair Use guidelines.
Lastly, bullying has been a continuous issue in the school system— from K through 12. Cyberbullying has also been a great issue in our society; however, with technology advances I believe that it will become an even larger issue. As an educator, I believe, as I stated before, educating the students on the problemat hand will help to eliminate the problem— it may not eliminate it completely but it’s a start. In school cyberbullyong was talked about, but the effects were never shown. Because of that, I believe that showing movies like “Odd Girl Out” will make the lesson more impactful. Moreover, when it comes to the decreased productivity in students, I plan to tackle this issue by incorporating more hands on learning in the class. Most of the time when we become distracted is because we are uninterested. So having the students engaged allows them to stay focused, and creates an increase in productivity because they feel as if they are contributing.
Anywayyyyy, that’s all for tonight folks. See you next time 😉
